In the light of the upcoming ‘Battle of Winterfell’ that would air in less than 24 hours….I’d like to give myself a chance to predict who will survive and who will not, and the reason. And later after I watch the episode, I’ll compare whether my reasoning is compliant with the actual story lol. Read if you’re interested. P.S this is heavily influenced by all the fan theory out there.
Update – May 4 : I know the update is late but OH MY GOD what an episode! I still can’t get over it. The best battle on the show, hands down. Agreed with all the people saying that it’s so dark, literally. I turned my screen brightness to the max and I still squint to see who is fighting with whom lol. Kiiinda fall short on the characters kill that I expected lol, but even so it still hurts seeing all the dead character dead. So below in this blue text, I added the actual story whether the character’s alive, plus commentary here and there. So, spoilers ahead!

Reason : he died before and came back to life. He’s the center of the show. Even if he ends up dead, I doubt it will be in this episode.
Actual story : alive.
Commentary : oh so he’s not the prince that was promised? What a waste of bringing him back to life! What’s the purpose of that, Melisandre? - Arya Stark
Prediction : alive.
Reason : she’s still got some names on her list. WHAT IF, she pretends to be Tyrion/Jaime and then kill Cersei? Prophecy kinda fulfilled, right?
Actual story : FREAKING ALIVE.
Commentary : DABSABDJKAJSDBKASBDAS. WHAT DO WE SAY TO THE GOD OF DEATH? NOT TODAY. ARYA FREAKIN STARK. Been a badass since DAY ONE. Doing what Jon Snow can’t do for seasons. - Sansa Stark
Prediction : alive.
Reason : she’s way too smart and too strong of a character to die now.
Actual story : alive.
Commentary : like we all are scared of, the crypt is not safe! But Sansa pull through. It was interesting to see her and Tyrion in the crypt, and will be interesting to see her next move against Cersei. - Bran Stark
Prediction : alive~somehow.
Reason : I think he’ll be the Night King.
Actual story : alive.
Commentary : what’s the purpose of warging into ravens when the Night King is coming for you only to come out of it SECONDS before he reached you OMG. Oh but thanks for telling Theon he’s a good man. He deserved to hear it. - Theon Greyjoy
Prediction : dead.
Reason : his character curve/development is already full. He’ll die protecting Bran.
Actual story : dead.
Commentary : this is a very completely crazily good development of a character. All praise to Alfie Allen for his acting. I can feel the fear Theon is feeling when he’s the last one standing between Bran and the Night King. That’s the only scene where I almost cried. But seriously, someone need to give Alfie Allen an award. - Daenerys Targaryen
Prediction : alive.
Reason : she’s got Drogon. And I think she’ll be the one who actually wreak havoc for the throne. She’ll gone full Mad Queen.
Actual story : alive.
Commentary : despite people saying her and Jon has no use in this battle, I beg to differ. She lent her army which she actually gathered to invade Westeros, rode her dragon and burn a lot, a lot of wights. She even tried to kill the Night King. And she even picked up a sword even when she doesn’t realy know how to use it. - Jorah Mormont
Prediction : dead.
Reason : he doesn’t have another reason/goal for being alive. He’s already given a very good advise to Dany last episode. I think he’ll die protecting Dany/Lady Mormont.
Actual story : dead.
Commentary : The Mormonts died a hero. Ser Jorah died protecting Dany, up until his very very last moment. He was pierced over and over and over and he still got up over and over. It’s a very heartbreaking scene when Dany cried for him and Drogon too. - Lyanna Mormont

Reason : I love her, I really do. But come on, she’s a kid, she can’t fight, she’s not in the crypt. I actually don’t think the crypt is safe. But her NOT being in the crypt just seems to add more chance for her to be killed.

Commentary : she was a badass, and she died a badass. - Tyrion Lannister
Prediction : alive.
Reason : same with Sansa, he’s way too smart to die.
Actual story : alive.
Commentary : it’s interesting that I’m thinking his position is now quite the same as Sansa. Both too good of a character to kill and interested to know their next moves in the throne game. - Ser Jaime Lannister
Prediction : dead.
Reason :he’ll be the valonqar who will kill Cersei. It will be too predictable if it’s Tyrion who kills her.I’m sticking with my theory that Arya will be the one who kill Cersei while pretending to be Jaime.
Actual story : alive.
Commentary : well he now has a chance to be the valonqar. But now that he’s done what he said, fought for the living and win, it’s interesting to see where his loyalty lies. - Lord Varys
Prediction : dead.
Reason : what’s the reason for him to live anymore?
Actual story : alive.
Commentary : why is he still alive though? What’s his position in this TV show again? - Missandei
Prediction : dead.
Reason : she can’t fight. I don’t think the crypt is safe. So if one can’t fight or have no one protecting him/her, I don’t think they’ll survive.

Commentary : huh, I’m starting to think it will be a better story line if one of a more main character died. - Grey Worm
Prediction : dead.
Reason : it will be too happy ending if he’s alive with Missandei. This is Game of Thrones.

Reason : he’s the bastard son of Robert Baratheon. It would be a complete waste of background story if he just died now.

Commentary : Gendry’s been one of my favorite character because omg Joe Dempsie. Aside from the actor, another reason is because him as being a bastard son of Robert Baratheon really need to have another story. Oh and also he needs to be with Arya. - Podrick Payne

Reason : Brienne said he’s ‘alright’, so I don’t think he’s a very good fighter.

Commentary : huh yeah how is he still alive against all the wight? I mean Jaime and Brienne were both good fighters and they seem overwhelmed already. How is Podrick still alive? This guy got a lot of secret he needs to spill already. - Samwell Tary

Reason : I think he will be the one who write all these Game of Thrones story for the Citadel.

Commentary : to be fair, he was very, very overwhelmed. And good friend Jon just walked past him when he’s in need lol. - Gilly and Little Sam

Reason : somehow I have a feeling she will find a safe place hidden in the crypt to hide herself and Little Sam. Oh but remember in every horror movie when the kid always cried when it’s so quiet and the bad guy is sneaking around? Uh oh.

Commentary : there’s another fan theory out there that said Gilly and little Sam miiight be the Night King turf card. So maybe it’s because of that? - Tormund Giantsbane

Reason : after this battle, we might see the final literal game of fighting over the thrones. I don’t think there’s room for his character in it.

Commentary : well now he has the chance to still pursue Brienne - Brienne of Tarth

Reason : she’s already got what she always wanted. Because this is Game of Thrones, that’s the cue to kill.

Commentary : she’s one of my favorite character, but what’s she going to do now? - Ser Davos Seaworth

Reason : because he’ll be the one telling everyone that Gendry is the bastard son of Robert Baratheon.

Reason : His sword is beaming fire, and I think the show kept him for a reason. Maaaybe, him and his sword would be the one that would actually kill one of the important white walkers or wights.

Reason : well he’s not actually in Winterfell yet. He’s just on the way to. So I think he’ll see them fighting and he’ll run back to King’s Landing.

Reason : I think all of the dragons will be killed in this battle.

Reason : I kinda like the fan theory that he’s actually heading to King’s Landing now. So no, he’ll not die in this episode.

Well this is fun. I am super nervous for the episode and all the characters I like though. I will update this post with the actual result after I watch it.
